Tidman has Torrid Battle for the Win with Martini

In Dave’s Delaware Valley Towing night

Tidman dedicated the win to Teammate Scott Campbell

It was Dave’s Delaware Valley Towing night for the American Three Quarter Midget Association and Zach Martini led the first four laps of the 25-lap feature event before Ryan Tidman overtook him.  Tidman in the Competition Classics Dart Chassis and Martini waged a side by side battle for the entire race.  Tidman worked to the outside of Martini lap after lap but couldn't gain the edge until the decisive move on the 23rd lap to secure the win.

The front row for the feature was Martini and Richie Coy in the Brat Chassis 12.  Coy was credited with leading the first lap before Martini took over the lead in the Valley Extrusions 46.  Martini lead until the fourth circuit when Tidman passed the 46 for the lead.  Martini was undeterred and retook the lead on a lap 12 restart.  Tidman and Martini battled side by side for the remainder of the race until Tidman was able to squeeze past on lap 23 to lead the final circuits and secure the victory.

Tidman picked up his second Mountain win of the season over Martini, Adams, Cicconi and Johnston. Tidman dedicated the win to teammate Scott Campbell who had to leave the races early for a family emergency.

The feature was slowed by four cautions, the last flew when Robin Johnston and Tim Behmer made contact in turn two.  Chris Deritis was also collected.  Martini wasted no time on the restart as he powered back into the lead.  Tidman fell to second with Don Adams, Lou Cicconi and Richie Coy in tow.

Martini took advantage of his pole starting position to secure the win in the first Dave’s Delaware Valley Towing night  Heat race over "Liquid" Lou Cicconi in the Robin Johnston 13 followed by Janisch Tidman, Frank Fischer, Coy and Jeff Kot rounding out the heat qualifiers.

The Second Dave’s Delaware Valley Towing night Heat saw Alison Cumins take off from her pole starting position and open up a solid lead on perennial ATQMRA Champion Don Adams.  Her time in front was short lived when Cicconi, running his second heat of the night, this time in the familiar Hentrich 57 he races at the indoor races at Boardwalk Hall moved from his 7th starting position to take the lead on a lap 4 restart and secured the victory.

ATQMRA News and Notes:  Tim Proctor debut his freshly built beautifully prepared Predator TQ midget struggling with handling whoas.  Frank Fischer and Jeff Kot both suffered lower shaft failures simultaneously coming off the second turn in the feature relegating them to 13th and 14th respectably.  Mountain Speedway Track Photographer Kevin Green suffered numerous injuries after being struck by a spinning modified during the Modified feature event.  Ambulance crews responded on the scene immediately, and then Kevin was flown to the Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown.  Although he needed a number of stitches, Green’s condition appeared to be well at press time after a scary incident.  Our prayers and best wished go out to Kevin and the Green family for a speedy recovery.
